Privacy notice

1. Introduction

primaryschool.ie ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains how we collect, use and safeguard your information when you use primaryschool.ie.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: your name and email address when you are invited to, or ask to set up, a committee. If you choose a password, it is stored securely by our hosting provider and we never see it.
• Committee information: what committees add, such as meeting agendas and minutes, actions, calendar events, handover notes and member roles.
• Fundraiser activity: how many books, laps or similar were logged for each class. We do not ask for children's names. To prevent abuse we keep a one-way code made from your connection and the date, which cannot be turned back into your IP address. We delete it after 30 days.
• Corrections: if you tell us something on a school page is wrong, we keep your message and, if you give it, your email address so we can reply. We delete the email address within 90 days of dealing with the correction.
• School information: public details of schools published by the Department of Education, and school locations from the Department of Education and OpenStreetMap.
• Page counts: we count how many times each page is viewed and which site sent visitors here (like google.com). We don't use cookies for this or store anything that identifies you.
• Holiday reminders: if you turn on notifications, your browser gives us a technical address to send them to; it doesn't identify you. If you sign up by email, we keep your email address only to send reminders, and delete it when you unsubscribe or after a year without reminders.
• Your location: if you use "near me", your browser shares your location only when you allow it. We round it to about 100 metres to sort the list and don't store it.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the service, including signing you in and showing your committee its information
• To send you sign-in, invitation and password emails
• To check that people asking to set up a committee are on it
• To keep the service secure and prevent misuse

We do not sell your data, show you targeted advertising based on it, or process payments.

4. Who can see it

Committee information is only visible to members of that committee. Fundraiser pages show class totals publicly. Our hosting provider, Netlify, stores the data on our behalf.

5. Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, to object to its processing, and to data portability. Committee admins can remove members at any time.
